Fernanda Montenegro joined Itaú Unibanco to celebrate the milestone of her 80-year career and the bank's 100th anniversary through a unique and free performance of her moving reading of an excerpt from 'The Farewell Ceremony' by Simone de Beauvoir (1908–1986). The text explores the French philosopher's reflections on feminism and her lifelong relationship with Jean-Paul Sartre (1905–1980), brought to life by Fernanda Montenegro during a special season in São Paulo, also sponsored by the bank. All 10,000 tickets sold out in less than 3 hours.
The unique performance took place on August 18, at 7 PM, free of charge, at the Oscar Niemeyer—Ibirapuera Auditorium. Staged in the auditorium's open-air setting, the performance featured high-definition sound and large-scale image projections across the iconic lawn behind the venue, one of São Paulo's most recognized landmarks.
As expected, the event became the largest audience of Fernanda Montenegro’s career and a historic milestone in her professional journey, earning a Guinness World Record as the largest audience ever recorded for a philosophical reading.
An achievement fully aligned with the legacy of Brazil’s greatest actress.
